I couldn’t image being in a situation where I wouldn’t have access to lifesaving medical care.  Honestly, if I didn’t have access to lifesaving medical care I might not be here.  I was diagnosed with Crohn’s disease in 2006 and quickly became very ill being hospitalized on numerous occasions.  Without the support from a certified medical team I may not have found the medication that changed my quality of life.  I now receive my “liquid gold” as I call it once every 6 weeks through an IV infusion at the hospital.  Without this medication I wouldn’t be able to work, play with my kids, and who knows what else.  I don’t like to think about it.  I can’t even imagine how different my life would be with my medical team and my medication or wonder if I would even be here.  I am lucky.  Some people do not have any access to medical care due to economic circumstances, national conflicts, prejudice, or even natural disasters.  What would you do if the doctor wasn’t a car ride away?  It’s hard to imagine.
